Blackboard Back-to-School Move-In Teams

This fall, Campus Media Group coordinated Move-In Teams at 4 campuses for Blackboard during Back-to-School.

As a company, Blackboard’s goal is to work with colleges and universities to engage students in exciting new ways, reaching them on their terms and devices — connecting more effectively, keeping students informed and involved. So it was only appropriate they hit the pavement and get in front of those students offering whatever assistance the students might need during the ever exciting and chaotic Move-In Day. The teams were on hand all day at every dorm with cool bottles of Blackboard branded water bottles to help students and parents alike. Needless to say, they were very popular, and it was a great way to educate incoming students and parents about the resources Blackboard offered at their campus.

I remember my Move-In day like it was yesterday. It was August in Bloomington, IN (Read: It was 100 degrees). Briscoe dorm did not have air conditioning (Read: It felt like 200 degrees), only had one elevator for all 500 odd students and had a pretty serious lady bug infestation that seemed to be most aggressive in the stairwells (Read: It was my ‘Nam). Sure would have been nice if some folks came to my rescue and perhaps offered to lift some heavy boxes and give me a cool beverage. Just sayin’.

If you are looking to reach students during move-in, there are a lot of fun options. Contact us today. Lead time for a move-in promotion is about 6-8 weeks depending on the tactics used.

College Marketing Notes:

We now have the ability to target the parents of college students nationwide with opt-in email. Email campaigns for parents will be handled the same way as our student email programs, so request a fresh count today.

  • QR codes are all the rage. If you haven’t experimented with QR codes yet, now is the time. We can help you generate QR codes and consult with you on how to use them in your college marketing this fall. There’s no charge. Just call us, and we’ll be happy to share what we know.
  • College football will be hot! If your client or brand would tie in well with college football, then let us know. We can kick off your project with special football issues in campus newspapers, tailgating promotions, alumni email blasts and local bar/restaurant promotions before and after games.
  • We recently partnered with YOUniversityTV to offer online video advertising that reaches millions of high school teens and community college students. If you haven’t seen this yet, check it out here. It’s new, it’s cool, and we’re the ones to talk to if you want to start a program.
  • Go Greek! It’s no secret that those in a fraternity or sorority have enormous influence on campus. If you want to reach this group, we have postal lists available for thousands of Greek houses across the country. We can help with custom sampling, mailings, door hangers, event sponsorship, and more.
  • Know of a nonprofit in need? We are now taking applications for our annual College Newspaper PSA Program. This program gets one lucky organization exposure in hundreds of campus newspapers across the U.S. for the entire school year. The deadline is August 30, so help us spread the word.

Goodwill Halloween Design

We are happy to be helping Goodwill with their campus marketing efforts this year. I wanted to share their creative with you because I think it’s excellent. It’s fun. It reinforces the brand. It stands out. And more importantly, it makes me want to shop Goodwill for a Halloween costume. I’m guessing students will share my sentiment.
