Flyover country no more – Lebowski Fest has arrived

Minneapolis, MN – FINALLY coming to our fair city this week is the much-anticipated Lebowski Fest, a celebration of all Lebowskithings related to The Big Lebowski.  The Speed of Sound Tour is making a two-night stop in the backyard of Joel and Ethan Coen, Director/Writer.  Festivities commence Friday night at First Ave, featuring music by Black Diamond Heavies & The Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, followed by a screening of the film.  Saturday is of course bowling night at Memory Lanes,  including costume and trivia contests – this is the day to really unleash your inner dude.

Wild rumors have been circulating due to an upcoming appearance at the Walker Art Center by the Coen brothers on September 25th that they will be surprise guests at Lebowski Fest Minny.  They have until now steadfastly kept themselves from anything associated with the events, and my prediction is that much to our collective dismay this will continue to be the case.  Regardless, looks like a great lineup at the Walker and will be well worth attending.  It commemorates the 25th anniversary of the release of their first film, Blood Simple as well as the release of their locally-filmed upcoming movie A Serious Man.  Can’t wait to see Oh, Brother, Raising Arizona and Barton Fink on the big screen again.
